Currently, the directors at Coimhearsnachd Bharraidh agus Bhatarsaigh

are busy developing an ongoing project to house Coimhearsnachd

Bharraidh agus Bhatarsaidh.

Creating a HUB to house CBaB along with

many other locally dependent organisations.

Coimhearsnachd Barraidh agus Bhatarsaidh are currently looking into creating a more substantial

and present base for their office. At the moment the team are exploring ‘Calagorm’ (locally known as

the Old Doctors Surgery) as possible premises. The building is currently selling at offers over £210

000.

If the project is to go ahead, it would result in the centralisation of the CBAB offices on the ‘main street’ in Castlebay. The building would act as a Hub for Coimhearsnachd Bharraidh agus Bhatarsaidh, Voluntary Action Barra and Vatersay, the community radio and other sectors. The building will be open to public ‘drop-ins, whereby members of the public will have the opportunity to visit the building and staff to discuss any issues/ideas etc. Furthermore, it would house and provide the workers of CBAB, VABV etc with the well needed office space which at present is unavailable. , The management team at CBAB are working at compiling information to submit as part of a competition for community enterprise projects which are in need of financial support. If successful, this grant money which would be used to buy and renovate the building.
